Super Mario Galaxy References

Many, including this author, consider Super Mario Galaxy to be one of the best video games of all time. Not only is it an amazing game, but there are also a few references to other Nintendo games. They are as follows:

Octoguys

One of the game's many enemies, the Octoguy, resembles an Octorock from the Legend of Zelda series. Both creatures also faintly resemble Octopi and attack by shooting rocks.

The Ship

One of the planets in the Space Junk Galaxy strongly resembles The Ship from Pikmin 2 in design.

Poke Ball

The smaller planet in the Buoy Base Galaxy resembles a Poke Ball from the Pokemon series.

Blue Rupee

In the Rolling Gizmo Galaxy a hidden cluster of blue star bits can be found in the shape of a Rupee from the Legend of Zelda series.
