Levl Up Bros.
Early Acces Gaming
12/1/2015
Today I'm writing about a really cool, innovative idea in the field of video gaming. This idea is a new kind of early access gaming platform called Levl Up Bros. I'll explain it below, but if you prefer videos, here is their trailer:
With their system, Indie game developers upload their work in progress games. If you sign up, for 15$ a month you'll be able to play any uploaded games infinitely. Then you can help by giving the developers advice on how to make their games better, and report bugs. The developers can then in turn continue to work on their game and upload updates to Levl Up Bros. This way, developers get help and exposure for their games, and everyone else gets to enjoy the results of their efforts.
One thing that makes this really unique is the leveling up system. If you've ever played an RPG, you know how fun it is to collect experience points, level up, and unlock new abilities and items. Levl Up Bros employs a similar EXP system. Players can gain EXP by playing the games, sharing them, reporting bugs, etc. Once you level up enough, you earn special rewards like free membership and games. Developers can earn EXP and level up too by updating their game and responding to user comments. When game developers level up, their game will become a featured one on the site, and partnered websites and YouTube channels (including me!) will help share their game.
Right now, the team at Levl Up Bros. have taken to Kickstarter to raise funding to make their idea a reality. If you, like me, think that this is an amazing idea, be sure to take a look at their campaign here. Plus, donating just 10$ gets you free membership for a month, and that's the smallest reward!
As a last note, you may have wondered how this fits with my website's theme of Nintendo and retro gaming. Well, the Wii U is one of the consoles that they plan to support with their platform. Also, all 3 members of the team list The Legend of Zelda and Super Smash Bros. among their favorite games/series on their website. You can check out all of their stuff with the links below. Happy gaming!
The Author
I'm the guy who programmed this whole website from scratch and I'm responsible for most of the content you see here (including these cool author profiles!). I've been a huge fan of Nintendo since I picked up my first NES controller when I was 3. When I'm not writing articles or filming a new video, I enjoy playing and composing music, reading, math, art, and computer programming.
